Peter N. Stevens, LEED AP is President Emeritus of JCJ, where he played a defining role in the firm’s strategic growth and evolution over his 37 years of service. One of the few non-architects to lead a major U.S. architectural practice, Peter helped guide JCJ through a period of significant expansion, focusing on strengthening business practices and building a foundation for long-term resilience. His leadership was instrumental in the firm’s transition to 100 percent employee ownership (ESOP), reinforcing a culture of shared responsibility and positioning JCJ for its next generation of growth.
Drawing on more than 40 years of experience in the design industry, Peter worked closely with clients, community leaders and public officials to advance projects that strengthened institutions, supported economic development and enhanced communities. Known for his strategic perspective, business acumen and dynamic leadership style, he believed that exceptional design practices are built by balancing thoughtful growth with disciplined management, empowering people and maintaining a steadfast commitment to client service.
Beyond JCJ, Peter has long been committed to civic leadership and community service. His two decades as Chairman of the City of Hartford’s Pension Commission, together with leadership roles across educational, civic and cultural organizations, reflect a deep belief that professional success carries a responsibility to strengthen the communities in which we live and work. Peter earned a bachelor’s degree from Bates College and a master’s degree from the University at Albany, SUNY, and joined JCJ in 1988.
