Shaowen Chou, AIA, LEED AP is an Associate Principal and Senior Project Manager with more than 25 years of experience leading large-scale hospitality, gaming, entertainment, and mixed-use developments throughout the United States and internationally. She is recognized for her strategic leadership, disciplined project management, and ability to guide complex, multidisciplinary teams through every phase of design and delivery. With a collaborative leadership style and strong organizational skills, Shaowen is known for building consensus among clients, consultants, and project teams while consistently delivering successful project outcomes.
Before joining JCJ Architecture, Shaowen played a key role in expanding a U.S.-based hospitality practice while serving as China Practice Leader and Director of Projects in Asia. During her six years in that role, she led business development initiatives, managed major international projects, and worked closely with diverse client organizations and multidisciplinary teams across multiple countries. This experience strengthened her ability to navigate complex projects, foster cross-cultural collaboration, and build trusted, long-term client relationships.
Beyond project delivery, Shaowen is passionate about advancing the profession through knowledge sharing, mentorship, and continuous improvement. She champions knowledge management, project management best practices, and professional development initiatives that strengthen collaboration, improve project delivery, and support the growth of emerging professionals. She believes that investing in people and sharing knowledge are essential to building stronger teams and delivering exceptional results.
Shaowen earned her Bachelor of Architecture from the University of California, Berkeley and is a registered architect in California. She is fluent in both Simplified and Traditional Mandarin and has working proficiency in French.
