Toscano Family Ice Forum Named ENR New England Best Project

JCJ Architecture is proud to share that the Toscano Family Ice Forum at the University of Connecticut has received an Award of Merit in the Sports/Entertainment category as part of ENR New England’s 2024 Best Projects.

Located in Storrs, Connecticut, the 97,300-square-foot arena serves UConn’s men’s and women’s hockey programs and seats 2,600 spectators. The facility features an ice-level lounge, upper-level club, team lounges, advanced locker rooms, hydrotherapy and strength and conditioning facilities, a puck shooting room, coaches’ offices, and a press box.

Designed with sustainability and high performance in mind, the project incorporates electric ice resurfacers, water-saving technologies, and eco-friendly materials, with the goal of achieving LEED certification and meeting Connecticut’s High-Performance Building Standards.

Despite challenging subsurface conditions and complex construction sequencing, the $58.7 million project was completed on schedule and on budget in just 30 months.
