Sun City Library

Inspired by the mountainous desert terrain of Riverside County California, JCJ designed the Sun City Library to seamlessly blend the Southwest environment with natural materials and contemporary architecture. The library takes full advantage of the sunny climate, featuring full height windows that offer stunning views of the surrounding landscape. The architecturally dramatic entrance, highlighted by a raised atrium ceiling and clerestory windows, fills the lobby with natural daylight.

The remodel and expansion, totaling 10,739 square feet, adds over 4,000 square feet of space, allowing for approximately 30,000 additional books and digital resources. The updated design also includes a community room, dedicated children’s and teen areas, and meeting spaces, all of which invite visitors to enjoy the warmth and beauty of the outdoors.
