CATHOLIC CHARITIES, ARCHDIOCESE OF GREATER HARTFORD | HARTFORD, CT
The Institute for the Hispanic Family is the largest neighborhood family center operated by Hartford’s Catholic Charities. The center was designed to accommodate four primary program needs: Early Childhood Education, Senior Center, Adult Services, Child Guidance and Family Support
Set within a dense neighborhood of small local businesses and multi-family homes, the building exterior draws inspiration from the scale, height and characteristics of surrounding dwellings. Masonry is used on major elevations facing Wadsworth and Cedar Streets, a material consistent with other structures in the neighborhood. The building also incorporates horizontal banding in the masonry, residential-scaled windows, overhangs and similar roof geometry.
