Greater Hartford Jaycees Community Boathouse

Since 1981, Riverfront Recapture has led the effort to revitalize the banks of the Connecticut River in Hartford and East Hartford. The organization’s work has transformed the riverfront from an inaccessible and overgrown resource into four public parks linked by a riverwalk system.

A destination for people across the region, the Jaycee’s Boathouse provides seasonal access to the waterfront and year-round opportunities for local gatherings and events. The first level of the 2-story structure is used to house the sculls and shells used by community rowing program. A large community room on the second level accommodates functions for up to 300 people, with an expansive front porch that provides visitors with breathtaking views of the Connecticut River.

Constructed on slighting elevated ground on the banks of the river, the Boathouse provides direct access to the riverfront and was designed to withstand frequent seasonal flooding.
