Envisioning a Destination
Dillon Stadium is an existing field and stadium that was originally constructed in the 1930's; over the years the facility was used for sporting events, concerts and large community festivals.
JCJ Architecture, in collaboration with Odell’s Sports and Entertainment Studio, worked with Hartford Sports Group (HSG) to bring a United Soccer League franchise to Hartford as part of the effort to revitalize Dillon Stadium. HSG is a partnership of 3 local business people who have a love for the game of soccer, a deep commitment to the City of Hartford and a belief that Dillon should be brought back to its original place of honor in the region. While the facility is owned by the City of Hartford, it is managed by the State of Connecticut’s Capital Redevelopment Authority and HSG operates as the primary tenant.
To meet the stipulations of the USL agreement, the facility was renovated for a capacity of 7,500 patrons.
The project scope includes:
- Press box;
- Synthetic turf that meets FIFA 2 Star requirements and the City of Hartford infill requirements;
- Cost-effective approaches to premium offerings (VIP space, field seats, etc.) as well as other revenue-generating opportunities;
- And comprehensive renovation that meets ADA and code requirements.
