On Thursday, May 12, teams competed in the AIA Connecticut CANstruction event at the Connecticut Food Bank.

JCJ Architecture and Gideon Welles School, who won the Juror’s Favorite Award on Thursday, have participated in this event as a team for the past nine years.

Nearly 12,000 cans were raised at ‪‎CANstruction. All of the built projects will be donated to the network of food-assistance programs served by the Connecticut Food Bank and Foodshare.

CANstruction is a unique charity which hosts competitions, exhibitions and events showcasing colossal structures made out of full cans of food. After the structures are built, the cansculptures® go on display to the public as a giant art exhibition. At the end of the event, all food is donated to local hunger relief organizations.
