JCJ Architecture Among First Firms to Have WELL Accredited Professionals
Firm Launches WELL-Environment Strategies Team to Progressively Expand Health and Well-Being Design Capabilities Across Sectors Nationwide
J CJ Architecture today announced that multiple leadership team members earned provisional accreditation through the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI) making the company one of the first architecture firms in the nation to have such trained professionals on staff.
Subsequently, the firm launched its WELL-Environment Strategies Team, which will focus on implementing the WELL Building Standard® , the first protocol of its kind to focus on the health and wellness of occupants within the built environment. This standard identifies specific design strategies, performance targets, and operational policies that can enhance health and well-being when holistically integrated into building architecture and design.
“JCJ carefully built the WELL-Environment Strategies Team to be a cross-geographical entity with collective experience in building design across market sectors including commercial and education,” said JCJ’s President Peter Stevens. “As the WELL Building Standard continues to gain traction, we are ensuring our clients in all industries from coast-to-coast have unprecedented access to these insights.”
Trained as part of an elite group at the International WELL Building Institute’s first WELL Accredited Professional (WELL AP) workshop in February, JCJ’s leadership team is actively collaborating with IWBI to educate industry stakeholders about WELL environments with the ultimate goal of creating spaces that contribute to human health, performance and well-being by marrying the best innovations in technology, health, science, design and enterprise.
“With people spending more than 90% of their time indoors, the built environment has a profound impact on our health, happiness, productivity and well-being,” added Alexandra Lopatynsky, AIA, Managing Director at JCJ Architecture. “We see this not just as an outgrowth of the sustainability movement, but as the next logical step toward a holistic approach to design – one that takes into account both the health of the environment and the health of its people, which ultimately adds value for our clients and an enhanced experience for the patrons of their buildings.”
