Day Trip: JCJ New York Explores the Vessel

JCJ’s New York Office took a team trip to see the Vessel (TKA)!

The extraordinary centerpiece of Hudson Yards is a soaring new landmark meant to be climbed. Comprised of 154 intricately interconnecting flights of stairs -- almost 2,500 individual steps and 80 landings – the vertical climb offers remarkable views of the city, the river and beyond.

This interactive artwork was imagined by Thomas Heatherwick and Heatherwick Studio as a focal point where people can enjoy new perspectives of the city. Our team certainly had a great time exploring the new local landmark from different heights, angles and vantage points!

The Vessel (TKA), a bronzed steel and concrete sculpture, was never given an official title and the structure's name is in fact a working title, noted in the TKA abbreviation, which means "Temporarily Known As". The Owner's have asked the community to give it a formal name and have a website devoted to re-naming the 150-foot honeycomb-like structure.
