The Project Director role can take on a blend of three areas of leadership: Business Development, Design or Project Management.

As the Sr. PM, is responsible for the day to day management and delivery of assigned projects with specific focus on scope, schedule, and budget. When overseeing other PM’s on a project, is responsible to maintain client confidence and open communications; support of the team and for overall quality control.
As the Business Development Director builds market position by locating, developing, defining, negotiating, and closing business relationships. Report regularly to Market Sector Leader to maintain up-to-date information upon which to make decisions.
As Project Designer may take on the role of lead designer on projects or work with designers on assigned projects to infuse project type expertise into the design of projects.

Duties and Responsibilities - Business Development:

In the Institutional (Education) market, cultivates new areas of business opportunities that are consistent with JCJ’s core values.
Intimately familiar with the local/regional market, e.g., opportunities, competitors, etc., and devise/implement a strategy for growing the local and national presence.
Genuine relationship builder - someone who values the relationships they build, and who do what they say they are going to do.
Regular attendance at industry networking events, as well as active participation in related organizations.
Identification of opportunities for conferences/speaking engagements.

Either directly perform or work with the project Lead Designer

Job Requirements and Qualifications


20+ years background in with an architectural practice
CA licensed Architect
Strong Institutional network and experience in K-12, C&U, Native American experience is a plus.

Education and Experience:

Bachelors Degree in Architecture, or construction related field preferred.
5+ years’ experience in project management, preferred within construction or architectural related field
5+ years of experience with supervisory management responsibilities.
10 years directly in Business Development
5+ years Senior Management experience.
