The new basketball development center at San Diego State University consists of two practice gymnasiums, team rooms for men and women, coaches locker rooms, a film room, a sports medicine suite and support facilities. The entire facility will be “branded” to create a unique environment for development and recruiting. This design placed first in a design/design-build competition. The unique hillside site next to the existing Viejas Arena was very challenging and required a unique multi-level solution to accommodate the program requirements while maintaining the day-to-day operations of the existing arena. The project is aiming to achieve LEED Silver.
