JCJ brings an approach to civic architecture that addresses local values and context while also responding to the requirements of service-focused organizations. With an objective of enriching lives and communities, these facilities foster the delivery of important economic, social and environmental programs. JCJ offers an engaged process of pre-design planning and stakeholder engagement that allows owners to achieve consensus regarding financial investment, programmatic features and visual form. Bringing people together around shared objectives, aspirations and intentions requires that the architectural response be firmly rooted in the context of civic life.

Our work has included library, not-for-profit, cultural and community, municipal and government, recreation, and performing arts; projects have ranged from new construction and renovation, to adaptive reuse and historic preservation. With each project we strive to respond to community needs and context by balancing financial and programmatic requirements.

JCJ is part of the local and national dialogue about design and the built environment. We are active members of the American Institute of Architecture, the Metro Hartford Alliance, the Downtown San Diego Partnership, the Construction Institute, the Connecticut Trust for Historic Preservation and the Design Build Institute of America. We actively participate and contribute to the work of Construction in Indian Country, CANstruction and the ACE Mentor Program.
