The Tohono O’odham Nation looked to JCJ Architecture for master planning, architecture and interior design services to transform the existing Desert Diamond Casino into a destination resort, complete with a hotel and conference center. For this project, JCJ carefully integrated contemporary interpretations of indigenous southwest architecture with cultural iconography of the Tohono O’odham Nation. The new gaming facility offers 1,300 machines, 24 table games, a dedicated poker room, a 300 seat bingo hall and keno and includes a variety of dining and entertainment options.

The 4-star hotel includes 150 spacious guest rooms with views of the crescent-shaped pool or the picturesque Sonoran landscape. The resort offers 10,000 square feet of meeting and conference space designed with the latest audio/visual and information technology. Other resort amenities include a fitness center, outdoor pool, steakhouse restaurant, bar/lounge and coffee bar.

Designed as an addition to an existing facility, careful attention assured the continuous operation of the existing gaming floor, resulting in fewer than 12 hours of down time as the existing facility was closed and the new gaming floor opened.
