JCJ served as campus architects to Choate and completed numerous projects, ranging from aesthetic and maintenance upkeep to major remodeling and additions to campus buildings. A common consideration through each project was to maintain the traditional character of exteriors to fit harmoniously with the campus’ existing character.
Select Projects Included:
Humanities Building - Conversion of a science building into a humanities building that included classrooms, seminar rooms and lecture halls.
Memorial House - Renovation and expansion of a freshman boy's dormitory with the adaptive reuse of the attic into living space.
Logan Monroe Building - Renovation of boy's dorm.
Nichols Building - Renovation of girl's freshman dorm
Steele Hall - Renovation of language arts building that includes classroom and seminar space.
Student Activities Center - Adaptive reuse of a gymnasium into a student center that includes a post office, snack bar, lounge and meeting space.
In all cases, JCJ phased construction and performed work during the summer in order to minimize the disruption to the student population and campus life.
